One of the most luxurious (yet understated) automobiles on the road is the 2006 Toyota Avalon Touring Sedan. That’s exactly the reason 33-year-old Eric Valdes, owner of Street Image (Baldwin Park, California), chose to build it for Toyota’s huge SEMA Show exhibit.
“We wanted to show what the potential could be for Toyota’s flagship sedan,” Valdes says. “With the great response we received from the SEMA Show, and the requests we have had to display the vehicle across the country since then, it has been a tremendous success.”
Pioneer Electronics had the Avalon in their booth at the CES Show and it’s also been seen on The Tonight Show, the NBA All-Star Game, the NBA Draft, Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club in New York and at the Long Beach Grand Prix. In 2007, the car will be traveling the country as part of Meguiar’s Car Crazy Tour, so you might see it in person.
Street Image did all of the mechanical and suspension work of the Avalon’s two-month makeover. However, additional work by several top Southern California shops was also required for paint, interior and the awesome audio/video system.
“I’d really like to thank Jeff Soga and Jaed Arzadon at Pioneer Electronics, Stan Chen, Rich Langi, the entire crew at Street Image, M1 Autobody and AutoHan Performance; and a very special thank you to my son Ethan, he makes it all worth it,” Valdes says.
“When we received the Avalon, it had 67 miles on it. Now that it has traveled the country, it’s up to a whopping 81 miles,” says Valdes, laughing. “At some point, we hope to be able to get to drive it.”
