The Ancient Egyptians believed that the “soul” was made of three parts: the Ba (the personality of the deceased), Ka (the double of a person) and the Akh (the immortality of the deceased). For custom bike builder and owner of Tricked Out Custom Cycles Warminster, Pennsylvania, Steve Kehler, the soul is embodied in the custom-built 2005 Kawasaki ZX-10. As one of the nine finalists in the “Sport Bike Build” category on ESPN 2’s Metric Revolution: Motorcycle Build Off, Kehler had 180 days to build this massive two-wheeler. “I did the full build in 120 days,” he boasts. “I’ve been customizing bikes 20 years now. This is what I do each and every day, just cutting bikes apart to make new ones.”

Custom-painted a golden yellow by TOCC, Kehler decided to have an Egyptian-inspired theme to the “King Kawasaki” after noticing that the upper body panel resembled an Egyptian headrest. “I’ve always had a fascination with Egyptian culture,” he describes. “The characters on the bike are of skeleton pharaohs, mummies and alien beings. It’s depicts how I think aliens were a part of Ancient Egypt.”

While Kehler’s supernatural custom-built Kawasaki didn’t take home the gold on the show (he came in third), it’s still a kickass sport bike ready to transcend this world.

Fuel Tank: Was chopped three inches for a lower profile and stretched back to match the frame lines.

Body Panels: The upper and side panels are made up of: three Kawasaki ZX-10 front and side cowls, one Yamaha R6 upper and visor, two Suzuki GSXR 1000 side cowls and four Yamaha R1 tailsections were used to complete the upper. The rear section of the bike is also molded from one Yamaha R1 tailsection and two Kawasaki ZX-10 tailsections.

Front Suspension: A custom set of chrome forks were designed and built using the bottom half of Suzuki GSXR 600 forks, and tops and internals from a Kawasaki ZX-10.

Rear Suspension: The rear swingarm consists of a 300 Fat Tire conversion kit that has been modified with the TOCC light-up cover plate and custom tear drop ends on the swingarm. A custom air ride system that makes the bike jump up at the touch of a bottom was also added.

Rims and Tires: This is the first sport bike with Xtreme Machine Shredder 19x3-inch front and rear 18x10.5-inch wheels with Avon Viper tires.

Seat: A Yamaha R1 seat was molded with a Kawasaki ZX-10 seat and was painted to color match the bike.

Engine: Velocity Stage 1 Turbo Kit with custom dump pipe, HKS blow-off valve and E-Boost Turbo timer and a three stage Nitrous system designed by Kehler himself using Nitrous Express componets.

Kickstand: a custom internal swingarm center stand that will support the bike when parked in the full down position by pivoting out of the lower brace on the swingarm.

Lighting: More than 2,000 No Magic Neon LEDs were used throughout the bike.
