Tesla unveiled it's Model S sedan last week and began taking reservations for the vehicle. The car hasn't gone into production yet but that hasn't stopped 520 people from putting down the $5,000 deposit necessary to reserve the vehicle. The deposit money from all 520 spots has raised $2.6 million for the car's development. The number of reservations surpassed Tesla's expectations. This is important because in order to build the new Model S Tesla will have to build a new plant. Tesla is also going to build a Model S Signature Edition that will be made in runs of 2,000 units that will dispersed evenly between the U.S. and Europe. The Signature Edition models will be the first cars built and will have unique exterior and interior features. In order to reserve this vehicle Tesla requires a $40,000 deposit. The Model S is priced at $57,500.
