In this challenging economic car market, the luxury automaker is hoping to get a jump on sales of the mid-range luxury sedan. Overall auto sales in North America and Europe have dropped over 30% since the third quarter of 2008. Sales for the E-class were down 23% worldwide through November of 2008 compared to the totals through 2007. Splinter Supercar

Written by
An entire car made of wood just might be what you’ll be driving in the future. A couple of graduate students at North Carolina State University are building a high-performance, mid-engined supercar from wood composites. These hopeful engineers will use wood wherever possible, including the chassis, body, and large percentages of the suspension components and wheels. The car has a target weight of 2500lbs and a power goal of over 600 horsepower. We just wonder how many splinters they will actually be getting in their endeavors? Ouch.
