The 2009 edition of the North American International Auto Show may have come with far less glitz and glamour than past years, but there was still much to be excited about on the show floor. This year’s show put a focus on the cars we love and the cars we need. Automakers unveiled exciting new concepts as well as many production models and there was still some muscle to be found in the greenest Detroit show yet. Ford rereleased their stunning flagship Taurus to much praise and this model could be the turning stone for struggling American Automakers. Ford also unveiled the replacement for the very successful 5th generation Mustang with its 2010 model. The new pony has a more aggressive look and will be offered with the Shelby GT500 package as well. Full Coverage at DUBMagazine.com. [gallery] Part 2

Detroit 2009: Revenge's GTM-R Supercar on display

Written by
Revenge Designs, a tuner of GM vehicles like the Pontiac GTO and Solstice, unveiled its new "all-American" supercar called the GTM-R. This is the first original design by Revenge and the vehicle features a wind-tunnel aerodynamic body shape as well as an ultra-rigid tube steel chassis. The vision in creating this car is to offer race-car handling and braking which means that the overall weight of the vehicle and weight distribution were at the top of the list. This model will feature a GM Performance Engine that is capable of going from 0-60mph in about three seconds with an estimated top speed of 180mph. The engine will be mated to a six-speed sequential transmission that will transmit the power to 20-inch wheels. Revenge Designs calls the GTM-R supercar a "fusion of speed and style".
The economic downturn has caused many automakers to scale back their sales goals but some like Rolls Royce and Lamborghini have amazingly set sales and profit records! Rolls' sales were up 20% last year thanks to an increase of just 202 vehicles. This generated about $60 million in additional revenue because of the prices of each car. North America is the largest market for the Rolls making up 38% of their total sales. Their new RR4 sedan (pictured) is expected to boost their sales to even higher volumes. Lamborghini's sales in the U.S. were down but they still enjoyed a record year worldwide largely because of a rise in demand in the Middle East, China and Southeast Asia.
