Looking like something out of a Sci-Fi movie, this weird-looking sports car is the W3 Triposto and it's the work of Canadian engineer Clyde Kwok and his son Hugh, a racecar driver. Their company, Wingho Auto, builds the W3 Triposto using a Porsche 911 as a donor car. Clyde and Hugh prefer early 1990's 911s, modifying the 3.6-liter boxer engine to produce 300 horsepower, but the Canadian duo can work with more modern 911s as well. According to the company, the three-seater (the driver sits in the center) can achieve a top speed of187 mph. The W3 Triposto sells for about $250,000 and that does not include the price of the donor car. A complete turnkey model starts at around $300,000. More.

2010 Buick LaCrosse

Written by
Buick will unveil its new LaCrosse sedan at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 12. Its new mid-size luxury sedan is essentially the production version of the warmly received Invicta Concept, revealed at last year's Beijing Auto Show in China. Fresh styling aside, the LaCrosse offers the option of all-wheel drive, a choice of two direct-injection V6 engines and a suite of modern personal technologies and safety features. It will go on sale later this summer. The exterior styling isn’t anything extravagant, but it is stylish enough to grab the attention of buyers in the near-luxury segment. The cars that the LaCrosse will most likely compete with are the Lexus ES350 and the Chrysler 300. What sets the LaCrosse apart from its predecessors is the availability of an array of personal technologies. These include features such as in-dash navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, an auxiliary audio input and a USB port. For rear-seat passengers, a power rear-window sunshade and a DVD entertainment system, with two display screens integrated into the seatbacks, is also available. Based on GM's Epsilon II front-wheel-drive platform that underpins the new Opel Insignia, the LaCrosse is roughly the same size as the car it replaces. Buyers can choose from two direct-injection V6 engines, a 3.0-liter unit generating an estimated 255 horsepower and 211 lb.-ft. of torque, and a 3.6-liter engine, producing an estimated 280 horsepower and 261 lb.-ft. of torque. Both V6 engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Buick Vehicles. [gallery]
