Volkswagen is ushering in a new era for its Beetle with the 2012 Black Turbo Launch Edition. What used to be considered a “girl’s car” has become a black demon, re-designed to be larger, driver friendly, and ecologically sound. Ultimately, it's become a bit more manly!
The 2012 Beatle will come in various trims with the turbocharged Beetle 2.0L TSI as the first to launch, specifically the Black Turbo Launch Edition. Only 600 units will be made available via a Vehicle Pre-Order (VPO) purchase program; buyers can order their Black Turbo Beetle through www.VW.com/preorder. The reservation fee is $495 and will either go to the purchase of the vehicle, or through “no-hassle” refund if you change your mind on the Beatle. It’s said to be priced in the range of $24,950 and only available via the VPO program.
Features for the 2012 Black Turbo Launch Edition include a 2.0L TSI, an in-line 4-cylinder turbocharged engine good for 200 horsepower and 207 lb.-ft. of torque and the latest Volkswagen DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) that shuts fuel pump, unlock doors, and hazard signals in case of a crash. Other features include Bluetooth and Apple iPod connectivities, larger brakes with visible red calipers, ambient interior lighting, sport cloth seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, front foglights and alloy pedals.
