Tampa Bay's Juran Bolden

Written by Joe Greeves

Tampa Bay's Juran BoldenJuran Bolden is a Tampa Bay native all the way. Not only did he live in the Florida city, but he also played football for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Surprisingly, however, Juran’s first love wasn’t football. Back in Hillsborough High School, the young track and field champ was sprinting the 100 meter run in 10.26 seconds and the 200 meter in 20.91 seconds.

When he began playing college ball at Mississippi Delta Community College, he did it well enough to be discovered by the Canadian Football League, which happened to be doing their winter training in Mississippi. They made him an offer he couldn’t refuse, and Juran began playing pro ball for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The cold climate was fun, the Canadian fans were enthusiastic and the experience gave him a taste for big league ball. It wasn’t long before he transitioned to the NFL, getting picked up by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1996 draft. He has been active ever since, playing for several pro teams including two successful seasons with his hometown Tampa Bay Bucs. Juran is now a free agent, entertaining offers from several different teams.

Juran and his wife, Tina, maintain homes in Tampa and Atlanta, where Tina’s family lives. They divide their time between the two cities, but Juran was happy for the opportunity to return to Tampa. “Florida is a great state, and I was excited about being back home, playing in front of family and hometown fans,” he said. Lots of old friends from high school have contacted him, and he is very proud of his accomplishments. At 6 feet 3 inches and 210 pounds, Juran is one of the league’s bigger cornerbacks and an indispensable asset against the current wave of massive receivers in the NFL.

During his off time, this 11-year NFL veteran loves spending time with his wife and son (especially since they have a baby on the way), and, somewhere in the middle of all that, he often finds himself collecting cars.

His wife drives around town in an Arctic Frost Range Rover painted-to-match the 24-inch Hipnotic Phantom wheels wrapped in Cooper Zeon XST 255/35R24 tires. They fill the wheel wells perfectly thanks to the Rover’s adjustable suspension. The slick SUV is equipped with a Strut package that includes their custom mesh grille and side vents along with a tubular running board with “Follow Me Home” lights. It’s Tina’s favorite vehicle, and she plays lots of classic R&B on the stereo.
