The Big Apple has been good to Will Castro. Not only has it been his home since birth, but it has also afforded him a lucrative place to build his Unique Autosports brand. But after 15 years in New York, he’s expanding down to the Sunshine State in order to conquer the automotive scene in Miami, Florida. When asked what made him choose Miami, he immediately blurted out “the weather” with a small laugh.
“A lot of the celebrities I work with live down there, so I thought it was the right time to expand and put a shop down there.” Unique Autosports South is actually going to be more than shop since Will is going to make it headquarters for the Unique enterprise. “New York will always be home to Unique Autosports, so I’ll be traveling back and forth between the two shops on my Southwest private jet. I’m always on the road traveling, so this is nothing new to me.” Ever since he opened his place from a one-car garage shop, life has been nothing but non-stop, as he set out to be one of the biggest movers and shakers in the business.
You probably remember Will’s back-story from his previous feature in Issue 21 back in ’04. If not, here’s a brief summary on Will’s rise to fame: He became interested in autos at a very young age when his father introduced him to them via an old McQueen Mustang. From there, Will’s appreciation for all things on four wheels grew, as he worked jobs related to automotives, such as parking cars at a local restaurant. Will then took it farther when he decided to create his own shop, specializing in washing and waxing…and the rest is history. “I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and run my own team,” he explains when asked to sum up why he wanted to open up his shop.
